Reverend Hale is at John Proctors house questioning him and his wife about their christianity and why haven't they been attending church every sabath day
Reverend Hale asks John Proctor to recite the Ten Commandments if he is a godly man and has no dealings with the devil, John proctor remembers all but one..adultry.which his wife says for him.
Proctors wife Elizabeth nudges John to tell Hale about what Abigail said to him a few days again about the girls only being scared into sickness and no witchcraft even being involved but Hale doesn't believe them. He ask why didn't he come forward sooner...
Hale says he examined Tituba and Abigail himself and the girls. Hale said that the people accused confessed there sins and are forgiven. Hale asks proctor if he believes in witches and Proctor says he doesn't deny it because it mentions it in the bible. Proctors wife says that she doesn't which causes stress in the room.
Hale says that Proctors wife should be careful of what she says and not to fly against the gospel. Proctor try's to justify his wife's words but she denies believing in witchcraft of any kind.
Hale tells John proctor to watch himself and his wife from now on, to attend every church service and to immediately baptize their youngest son to not raise any more suspicion about their life or christianity
