  • The soldiers shoes were not anything like what we have today. The shoes were very heavy and hard. They gave all of the soldiers blisters and sores. The soldiers hiked 30-40 miles per day. When their shoes were worn out, they would take them off of the dead.
  • Source Number 5
  • During the kids school day battles or raids would come through the town and the kids would have to go home. Soldiers destroyed anything in sight. They also were very mean and angry. They would take power over things too.
  • Source Number 6
  • People who are wanting their country to lose, or are not believing in things are called Copperheads. They are mean and people hate them. They would step up into battle if they were striving to win though.
  • Source Number 7
  • Women or soldiers wives would step up to be nurses when the soldiers were wounded. The soldiers would be brought back to a church to be cared for. The church was later on progressed into a so called hospital.
  • The soldiers were always in need of something. Sometimes it was food when they were starving. Or other times is was a hot summer day and they had to wear scratchy clothes. They also had no blankets on the cold nights.
  • The soldiers were not always in battle. Suprisingly the soldiers often had a lot of free time. During their free time they would play chess, checkers, they would write letters, and even have lice races from their head.
