  • In Paris, half of the 19 century, Madam Loisel was unhappy about her living conditions. She is pretty and charming, middle class, and was married to a clerk.
  • Climax
  • Madam Loisel was upset about being middle class, but the husbnd was okay.
  • Falling Action
  • The husband got an invitation for a party at a Mansion. The wife has nothing to wear, so the husband bought her a dress for 400 franks. Madam Loisel has no jewelry, so she boroughs a diamond necklace from Madam Forestier.
  • Resolution
  • Madame Loisel lost Madame Forestier diamond necklace.
  • The husband couldn't find the necklace. They wrote a letter to Madame Forestier saying she broke the catch. They bought a new necklace for 36,000 franks. Madame Loisel and her husband had to work off the money they borrowed.
  • Now after 10 years, Madame Loisel looked ugly and she became lower class. Madame Forestier met Madam Loisel, and blamed Madame Forestier for her misfortune. Madam Forestier told her the necklace was only worth 500 franks.
