Odysseus and his men landed on the island of the Cyclops.
When they arrived, Polyphemus, the son of Poseidon was in the pasture with his sheep.
After searching around, the men found Polyphemus' cave filled with milk and cheese and helped themselves to some nourishment, sure that the Cyclops wouldn't mind.
Unfortunately, Polyphemus wasn't pleased. He trapped the men and ate two of them in front of everyone else.
Odysseus and his men were able to escape by stabbing the Cyclops in the eye with a burning stake and riding away on sheep.
The men were able to swiftly escape the island, unseen by the blinded Polyphemus.
