The book of Exodus then describes the early life of Moses (moh zuhz). He was an Israelite who grew up in Pharaoh's palace as an adult, Moses came to believe that God was leading him to rescue his people from Pharaoh's control
Exodus says that the Israelites stopped at the foot of mount sinai while Moses went up the mountain to meet with God. Moses returned with the laws Known today as the ten commandments. A commandment is an order to do something.
The Exodus probably occurred about 1250 B.C. According to the Torah, after the descendants of Jacob left Egypt, they lived in the desert for forty years while God prepared the people from migration into the promise land. They also prepared many items, such as altars, that they would use in worshiping their God.
