Storyboard Text

  • Today's Lesson: •Start up •Mitosis and Meiosis
  • Hello Class! My name is Mr. Love, and I teach Science. Todays lesson will be on the topic of Mitosis and Meiosis and their differences!
  • Mitosis is the process that insures that each cell has the same DNA! It copies as the same cell as a form of cell division. Also, it helps repair cuts or wounds as well as take care of any growth you can think of thoughout the human body!
  • The process of its division is a cell, when it is ready, divides in two. Then the set of two new cells split inot four and so on. It increases the cell count at an exponential rate.
  • 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 512, etc
  • Now on to Meiosis! The defintion is that it produces cells with half as much DNA as the parent cell. This also is a form of cell division. This type is used for reproduction. The male and female when trying to have a baby each give 21 chromosomes out of 42. The cell has a half-DNA of each person.
  • 42 / \ 21 21
  • The first cell that is made for reproduction is called a zygote. They are created by the fusion of two small male/female haploids. The zygote, once it is ready, forms into a cell. And that is when the cell division starts.
  • Zygotes Gametes
  • Some examples of Mitosis is your hair. Your hair would be different colors without it becasue your cells would have different DNA. Blonde, purple, blue you name it. RING.... RING.... RING... Oh theres the bell see ya next class we will be discussing diffusion and osmosis!
