The drawing/lottery in “The Lottery” is symbolic of chances in life.
The character's name Mr. Graves in “The Lottery” are symbolic of tombstones and death.
The character's name Mr. Summers in “The Lottery” is symbolic of a contradiction the reader’s expectation of summer.
As a rule, when a person draws from the lottery it’s up to faith, no one will never know if they will win or lose. In this case, if one loses he/she wins, and if one wins he/she die. This is just like life, no one didn’t choose where they live as a child, no one didn’t choose if the outcome was going to be a human, animal or a plant. It was all up to faith and that is what is happening to the people who are drawing on the lottery. It’s all up to life chances.
The symbol that represents my own life is captain america.
This implies that the other pieces of papers have life, while one of the five slips in his hands will be death. Therefore he is like death, choosing who is going to die and who will be able to live. Also he is the postman who delivers news, and his last name is Graves, which means tombstones. So there was a hesitation in the crowd because people were scared that they might be the ones that will get the news that they are going to die.
Typically when you think of the word summer, you think happy, bright, excitement, and new (better) changes. But none of that applies to Mr. Summer. He runs fun activities, such as square dancing, teen clubs, and the hallowing program. After this you would determine that he is a nice person that makes people’s lives happy, no he takes them. Mr. Summers carries on a tradition that brings pain, suffering, and death to people. He works at a coal mine, which the setting is dark and sad already, but when you look at coal you see darkness which embodies death.
The symbol that represents my own life is captain america.Typically when you think of Captain america you think buff, superhero with a shield. But he is much more than that. Captain america represents determination when things get tuff. Even when the odds are against him. He represents loyalty, and trustworthy in protecting people, friends, and loved ones.
