Dred Scott and Harriet Robinson hoped to be free in a free state but Mrs. Emerson prevented them from being that.
Dred Scott sued and fought Eliza Emerson for his freedom for 10 years in court.
Dred Scott lost his case because Mrs. Emerson brother claimed them as his slaves since Mrs. Emerson didn't.
