Louis Riel was born 22 October 1844 in Saint-Boniface, Red River Settlement in Manitoba. He was half Metis and half white.
he left Red River at a young age to study in Québec. to be priest
After visiting his ill mother, Riel returned to Red River and discovered the Metis were being mistreated.
He had a meeting with the Metis to tell them what his rights should be.
He led the Metis into battle after a couple of casualties he surrendered with a cross in his hand.
Louis Riel was hung in Regina, SK on November 16 1885 for being a rebel.
