  • Tone
  • Word Choice
  • Title/Name
  • Imagery and Detail
  • It's tone was made sad for Doodle. It made me dislike his brother.
  • Style
  • He collapsed onto the grass like a half-empty flour sack. The words do not  really mean he was a flour sack but fell very heavily as if he were a flour sack.
  • Theme
  • "I screamed above the pounding storm and threw my body to the earth above his." This is a really good example of imagery because it makes it very clear what is happening and gives a lot of emotion.
  • "Doodle was just about the craziest brother a boy every had. Of course, he wasn't crazy crazy like old Miss Leedie, who was in love with President Wilson and wrote him a letter every day, but was a nice crazy, like someone you meet in your dreams." This sentence shows a interesting style because it makes you think that Doodle is the leader kid and had a really cool relationship with his brother.
  • The theme is this book is to not let pride and ego take over your brain or else people you love will get hurt.
