Run! It is the Monster!!
We are here to defend Denmark! I am Beowolf!
We are saved!
In Denmark, there was a monster. This monster would eat only Danish people. Grendel, the monster, lived in a den close to the city of Hrothgar.
On his way to Hrothgar, he would eat anyone in his path. He had sharp claws that would kill a human in one slash!
After hearing of Grendel, Beowolf made a boast. In this boast he said that he would avenge the death that Grendel had caused by killing him. So, Beowolf and his crew sailed to Denmark to kill the vicious beast.
That night, Beowulf and his men camped out outside of the castle. All of Beowulf's men slept. However, Beowulf stayed awake. When Grendel came, Beowulf was ready for him.
Once Grendel came close enough for Beowulf to touch him, Beowulf grabbed his arm and fought to take it out of it's socket. Grendel had never come up against such a strong warrior While the swords of Beowulf's men did no damage, Beowulf was able to take Grendel's arm out of it's socket. After being defeated, Grendel retreated to his den to die.
After Beowulf's victory, Grendel's arm was put up over the doorway.
