  • Character Quotes
  • After Reading: Students share final descriptions of character in their groups citing evidence from the reading.
  • Before Reading: The teacher will provide students with various quotes from a book. The students will then infer character traits based on the quote(s).
  • Before Reading: Students in small groups will then predict how the character will behave etc. based on all of the quotes.
  • During Reading: Students will add to their character descriptions as they read the scenes with those quotes.
  • Extension: Students can write a Text Dependent Analysis to describe the character. They will already have several pieces of evidence (the quotes) to defend their answers.
