Complications with ABCs are commonly caused by obstruction, hypoxemia, and hypoventilation.
Sensory, Process & Procedural. General surgery information includes respiratory strategies, pain management, equipment. Informed consent-disclosure, understanding, voluntary Lab and diagnostic results, H&P, consults, v/s, skin prep, marked surgical site by surgeon with patient agreement, void before preop drugs. SBAR report to OR.
Prevent complications-infection, positioning, hypothermia, surgical site prep; identify patient and procedure; room prep; monitor for anaphylactic rx & malignant hyperthermia.
