The Pope said hes the ruler, but we all know that the kings overrule the Pope
Its only fair to let all other popes get the same amount of power as past Popes.
These two people are similar in some ways, but different in many ways. On the right we have the pope, which is the leader of the catholic church, on the left we have one of the many kings. There was a different king per state in England
I DESERVE THE POWER
The Pope and Kings were both rulers, but in many different ways. The pope only had power over the catholic church in Western Europe. The difference between the kings is that each state had it own king, some had little to no power.

Leo IX tried to increase the popes powers because he said since Saint Peter was the church's first pope, and he had a lot of power, other Pope's should as well
Most Italians were convinced that the Pope was their only leader, so the Pope and king began to get into a power struggle on deciding who should be the official leader and who should have the power to choose church officials.

The power struggle between Kings and Popes continued throughout the Middle Ages
