Herod Sayle is a man who won't stop 'til he gets what he wants.
The main problem in the story is that Sayle's company is launching a new, futuristic computer: the Stormbreaker. However, MI6 is worried that the computer may pose a threat to British kids, so they send Alex in to check.
The first major event occurs when Alex's father, Ian, is killed. Later, it was revealed that he was assassinated.
When Alex finds out that Ian was a spy, MI6 trains him. They then send him to investigate, and see if the Strombreaker is really a lethal weapon.
When Alex is caught, Herod Sayle reveals the truth: He plans to kill all of Britain's schoolchildren using the Strombreaker's hidden smallpox virus. Alex must quickly rush to the "Activation Ceremony", and just as a button is about to be pressed (it would activate the Stormbreakers, Alex shoots it and it explodes.
Just as Alex thought he was safe, he meets Herod Sayle, who drives him to a helicopter pad to have him killed. However, the assassin he paid to kill Alex, Yassen Gregorovich, shoots Sayle instead. The book ends with Yassen telling Alex, "You should not be in this business. It will end you."
