  • Start of the semester
  • “I don’t have a concrete approach to drafting when it comes to writing. Typically, I open up a word document, and after a significant amount of time spent contemplating, I write my paper from start to finish. That time spent serves as my only prewrite and only draft” (Benjamin, Writing Journal 4).
  • Wow... I already have so many supporting details for my essay. This project will be SO much easier now!
  • Midway through the semester
  • INVENTION TECHNIQUES Invention: Your process of coming up with ideas that may or may not appear in later projects. EX- Freewriting (writing without stopping), journal, word storm , Sense game, drawing, listing and clustering
  • Present Day
  • LAST DAY OF CLASS!
  • I will always draft when writing now!
  • At the beginning of the semester, I wrote in my journal explaining my approach when writing papers. I admit that I never explored my options while drafting. I would just sit there and write my paper based off my jumbled thoughts in my head which would result in an unorganized essay.
  • During the midway point of the semester, I experimented with drafting techniques such as free writing and listing. Upon exploration, I noticed that the process of writing essays was easier by way of drafting.
  • Now, at the end of the semester, I realize that my perspective on drafting has changed. I have benefited from the different techniques and now I view it as an awesome way to get my papers started. I will continue to draft in my future writings.
