Storyboard Text

  • A boy upon the mountaintops
  • I am truly sorry my friend. I wish it didn't have to be this way.
  • Down goes the Sphinx....
  • I warned you to stop... and now that I have solved your riddle...BE GONE AT ONCE!!
  • Here comes our new king!
  • I just want to thank every one of you guys for providing me with the position as your new king!
  • Former King Laius orders servants to leave his son on top of a mountain, far far way. He does not want his son to kill him, just like his prophecy says he would.
  • Time to cure Thebes...
  • Sir, I have heard back from the gods. We need to find the killer of King Laius! Until then, Thebes will contine to suffer!!!
  • Oedipus saves the city of Thebes from the tyrannical Sphinx. The Sphinx would trouble the city every time someone failed to solve its riddle. Oedipus was the first to break the ice.
  • Our king... a killer?!
  • This is absurd! Leave my palace at once!
  • The courageous, very intelligent Oedipus is now our new King of Thebes! Let us show him our love and thanks for saving our city!
  • Teiresias was right after all...
  • Once again, Oedipus... I am sorry things have to be this way... I never imagined that this would ever happen.
  • The gods give important news to Oedipus! If he wishes to restore peace in Thebes, the killer of former King Laius must be found and punished for his actions!
  • After begging the prophet Teiresias for information on how he can find out who the killer is, Teiresias replies by saying "It is you who you are looking for!" This angers Oedipus greatly but shocks everyone else.
  • All that I must say is that you are the man you are looking for! Good day now.
  • In the end, it turns out that Oedipus is actually the killer, no matter what way you look at the situation. Like the gods said, necessary measures must be taken. The new king Creon has no choice but to banish him from Thebes in order to revive the city and please all of its inhabitants.
