The tone in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." is depressing or sad. The first slide I have here depicts Walter while he is imagining commandeering the Hydroplane through the bad storm while the crew are scared.
Another scene in the story is when Walters wife is yelling at him in the car and nagging at him to buy overshoes and puppy biscuits. This makes the reader feel sad for Walter as it is never nice to be nagged at and yelled at, especially by a loved one.
