  • oh dear!what's the problem?
  • mom i didn't get our topic in math for today.. it's all about geometric sequence. and i dont know what geometric sequence is all about
  • oh Sophie. my dear, don't be sad. mommy will teach you what is geometric sequence all about. okay?
  • okay. haha, but before that let's eat first okay?
  • really mom! thank you so much! you're relly the best!
  • ayaye mom!
  • after 2 hours..
  • In mathematics, a geometric progression, also known as a geometric sequence, is a sequence of numbers where each term after the first is found by multiplying the previous one by a fixed, non-zero number called the common ratio.
  • mom what is geometric sequence?
  • 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, . . . is a geometric sequence Each term of this geometric sequence is multiplied by the common ratio 2
  • oh I see mother. but hehe can you give an example?
  • mom what's the formula for the geometric sequence?
  • ohh. I see
  • If a sequence of values follows a pattern of multiplying a fixed amount (not zero) times each term to arrive at the following term, it is referred to as a geometric sequence. The number multiplied each time is constant (always the same).
  • To find the common ratio, divide the second term by the first term. Notice the non-linear nature of the scatter plot of the terms of a geometric sequence.
  • How do you find the common ratio of a geometric series?
