  • The Embargo Act of 1807 was a law passed by the United State Congress and signed by President Thomas Jefferson on December 22, 1807. It prohibited American ships from trading in all foreign ports. The result of the Embargo act was that it failed.The importance of this event was to see if America would stay neutral throughout the war between France and Britain.

  • The Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811 was a conflict between the confederacy of native warriors and United States armed forces. Fought primarily over white expansion into Indian territory, the battle lasted approximately one day with the United States securing victory. It was important because it destroyed the growing power of the Indian Confederacy.

  • The United States declared war on Great Britain The British continuously engaged in impressment and forced US citizens to serve. Disputes continued with Great Britain over the Northwest Territories and the border with Canada. Finally, Great Britain's blockade of France during the Napoleonic Wars served as a constant source of conflict with the United States. Canada won the land war and the U.S. won the sea war.

  • The Burning of Washington in 1814 was an attack during the War of 1812 between British forces and those of the United States of America. The importance of this was to send the U.S. a message.

  • A series of meetings from December 15, 1814 – January 5, 1815 in Hartford, Connecticut, United States, in which the New England Federalist Party met to discuss their grievances concerning the ongoing War of 1812 and the political problems. The Hartford Convention's final report proposed several amendments to the US Constitution. The importance was to solve the problem of the war.

  • The peace treaty that ended the War of 1812 between the United States and the United Kingdom.The peace treaty was signed and was upheld by both countries. The importance of the Treaty was to create peace between the U.S. and the United Kingdom to end the war of 1812.
