  • (Gasp)
  • Once upon a time, in the Greek kingdom of Thebes, King Laius and Queen Jocasta were celebrating the birth of their new son.
  • Oh my!
  • After the baby’s birth, King Laius went to the oracle to find out his fate. All the oracle had was bad news, he told King Laius that one day the baby boy will murder his father and marry his mother.
  • (Gasp)
  • Terrified by the news, the couple handed their baby over to a shepherd and told him to leave the baby in the woods to die.
  • The baby was soon found and taken to the king and queen of Corinth. They then adopted him and gave him the name Oedipus.
  • Many years later, Oedipus went to the oracle to find his fate. He then discovered that he was to kill his father and marry his mother. That night Oedipus ran away in an effort to escape his fate.
  • Days later, on the road into Thebes, Oedipus was confronted by a man in another chariot. The man began taunting Oedipus, not letting him pass. Oedipus grew angry with the man and killed him. Turns out the man he killed was ther king of Thebes and his birth father.
