Storyboard Text

  • It's important to brush your teeth to keep them clean
  • 2 MINUTES
  • Twice a day for 2 minutes!
  • We go to the dentist every 6 months!
  • I make sure your teeth are healthy
  • Children should brush there teeth to get all the plaque (excess food) off their teeth. If the plaque isn't removed the bacteria in the mouth will break it down into acid which will eat away the tooth making holes. These are known as cavities. If the tooth gets broken down too much, the dentist will have to take it out.
  • Calcium makes your teeth and bones strong
  • Children need to brush their teeth for 2 minutes twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. You should start brushing a child's teeth within the first 6 months but using a soft small headed brush with water. you should brush the gums gently because you don't want the gums to bleed.
  • Sweets damage your teeth
  • You should take your child to the dentist from the age of 6 months when the first tooth has erupted. The child needs to get into the habit of going to the dentist at a young age You should take your child with you to the dentist so they can see that it is safe. It is good for the child to sit on your lap for the first few times they go to visit the dentist until they feel ready to sit by themselves.
  • Fizzy drinks make your teeth rotten
  • You should encourage your child to have calcium in their diet such as milk, cheese and yoghurt because it keeps your teeth and bones healthy. Calcium also helps our blood clot.
  • You shouldn't give your child sweets or sticky foods because they encourage tooth decay. You can replace the sweets with healthy options such as fruit.
  • Children should avoid having fizzy drinks because it damages their teeth. The acid in the drinks etches off the tooth enamel. Also the sugar creates cavities.
