Storyboard Text

  • New proteins are needed, so Bob the DNA strand is going to be used to make the new protein.
  • We need some new protein lets use Bob to make it.
  • Protein Synthesis Process
  • WHAT!!! WHY ME!?!
  • The  first part of protein synthesis is transcription. During transcription Bob will be split and copied to make a strand of mRNA then put back together
  • This is a model of mRNA. There is no thymine(T) in mRNA so Uracil(U) is used instead

  • The next part of protein synthesis is transcription. In this process ribosomes will read off a certain recipe while the tRNA brings the correct amino acids to it.

  • If transcription or translation goes wrong it could mess up the whole process and create a disease or mutation. In transcription if the copy of the DNA is incorrect it can make the ribosome read off the wrong recipe making the protein incorrect and unable to work properly. During translation if the ribosome reads off the recipe incorrectly the amino acids would be in the wrong order and make the protein incorrect.
  • If something goes wrong
