Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • Sophie questioned God for what she thought would be the final time. Why had he allowed her grandmother to lose her memories? She saw that her biggest supporter was fading fast. Sophie asked God in prayer, "Why can't she remember me? Why doesn't she know my name? I need her, God" Sophie then, grasping her Grandmother's cold, dying hand, told God, "Fix her. Make it the way it was only a year ago." Sophie felt limp, as if she couldn't beg any harder."
  • Climax
  • Sophie found herself in a bare room all of a sudden. She then heard a soft, comforting voice, but she could not find the place it was coming from. A light appeared in the darkness. The voice said, "Sophie, you are the only light left in your Grandmother's world. She has no other hope than that of a young child. She needs your help to make her memories come back. I need you to paint them. You are inside her mind, now use your creativity and show your Grandmother how life used to be."
  • Falling Action
  • Sophie felt led to follow the light and comforting voice. She trusted the familiar being. Sophie looked around and saw how dark and gloomy her Grandmother's mind was. Although she was young, she wasn't oblivious to what was occurring. The odd series of events that were taking place did not scare her, but Sophie knew that her Grandmother's only hope relied on her and her paint bucket.
  • Resolution
  • After painting one of her Grandmother's favorite memories of the first time she met her baby brother, she realized that everything in the scenes, except for younger versions of herself, were turning gray again. She broke down and had no clue what to do. She called out to God again, asking for help; this time she received no reply. Sophie didn't understand how such a loving God could give her hope and then just strip it away.
  • Sophie realized that all she needed to do was calm down and finish repainting the scenes. It then dawned on her that God had never left her, but she had left him. She had become so confident that she had forgotten that the work she was doing was actually God working through her, and not her own. When she regained her trust in God once more, God said to Sophie, "See, all you have to do is have faith in me ."
  • Sophie suddenly found her self back in her Grandmother's room. Sophie was still holding her Grandmother's hand. Instead of her hand feeling cold, it was warm. Sophie looked up at her Grandmother and saw that she was sitting up. Sophie's grandmother then said, "Sophie! I missed you, my sweet girl! Come give me a hug!", in utter shock, Sophie muttered through her tears, "I thought you were gone!" Then her Grandmother said, "I would never leave without saying good bye."
