Storyboard Text

  • "Sails the unshadowed main" (Holmes 1.2). Holmes is describing the shell as it sails through darkness.
  • "Wrecked is the ship of pearl!" (Holmes 2.2). Holmes is describing the broken shell as a ship that has wrecked
  • "Stole with soft steps its shining archway through,Built up its idle door" (Holmes 3.5). As the nautilus grows it closes the "door" to its other chamber and never opens it again.
  • "Thanks for the heavenly message brought by thee" (Holmes 4.1). The nautilus has taught the speaker a clear message that is life changing.
  • "Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul" (Holmes 5.1). The speaker is now asking himself to live like the nautilus, looking into the future rather than looking in past.
