Elmira Prison Camp (July 1864- July 5, 1865) Elmira, NY right by the Chemung River
Colonel William Hoffman is sadistic for making us live in these terrible conditions.
He doesn't give a darn about us. He's a Yankee, and we're Confederate prisoners of war.
Elmira was one of the deadliest POW Camps in the entire war. 2,963 out of 12,122 Confederate soldiers being held there died. (About a 25% death rate)
Another one already?
Elmira Prison was said to be the worst Prison Camp in the North, and was later turned into a national cemetary.
During the Civil War, 56,000 men died in a prison camp. Deaths in a prison camp made up approximately 10% of the war's total death toll.
This war is doing nothing but hurting our nation. All deaths are American deaths.
Elmira? More like HELLmira.
