  • WHO IS HE?
  • ROLES OF KING HENRY VIII
  • THE MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE
  • You may kiss the bride!
  • Because I need a son and you can't give me one.
  • Why?
  • King Henry VIII was the King of England from 1509 until 1547. He was one of three reformers and had 6 wives, it was because of these wives that one of the reformations started. Born in Greenwich at the Palace of Placentia on June the 28th Henry was the 8th King of England.
  • THE DENIAL AND BEGINNING A REFORMATION OF A NEW RELIGION
  • Fine, I will create my own religion so that i can divorce!
  • It wasn't unfamiliar for King Henry when he had to take on the role and responsibility of becoming king, as he was only 2 years old when he was appointed constable of Dover Castle. The following day he was credited Duke of York. Shortly after he became Earl Marshall of England and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. he was chosen to take on all of the roles and responsibilities so that his father could keep personal authority of the profitable positions.
  • A NEW RELIGION
  • This will be my new religion, one that allows me to divorce and re marry to any mistress I wish to.
  • King Henry married Catherine of Aragon on 11th of June 1509 and divorced 14 years later on the 23rd of may 1533, when he found out that she couldn't produce a male heir to take Henry VIII throne.
  • DEATH
  • King Henry asked the Pope for permission to divorce with Catherine of Aragon. When pope Clement denied King Henry's request to divorce it caused was a series of events to occur, the events resulted in the Church of England splitting from the Pope's power and Roman Catholic Church, this is also known as the English Reformation.
  • You may not divorce with Catherine of Aragon
  •  Because Henry VIII couldn't divorce in the Catholic Church, he created his own religion, the Anglican Church. King Henry established his religion in 1534 in the Act of Supremacy during the Reformation.
  • King Henry VIII then married and divorced another 5 times with Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine of Howard and Catherine Parr until dying in 1509 due to obesity.
