Hello and welcome to the Scientific Stupendous Sources of Energy presentation. This organization of energy teaching was meant to explain several types of energy categories, ranging from chemical, to light to thermal energy.
Kinetic and Potential: Potential Energy is essentially a storage of energy within every object in the universe. It serves as a generator for other forms of energy to be transferred, such as potential turning into kinetic,which in turn can generate thermal energy. In speaking of kinetic energy, scientists define that to be the energy used while an object is in motion. To visualize, this cube as potential energyby being on the roof, if it were to fall it would transfer this energy to be kinetic instead.
Like before, kinetic energy can also be re-purposed to make thermal or sonic energy. Thermal energy can be created by the friction of sliding on a wall or rolling down a hill (which can slow said object down) and upon impact, create a shock-wave to which creates sound due to the vibration of sound (given there is a medium like air or water) (Note: Combining the amount of kinetic energy and potential energy, measured in joules, will create the amount of mechanical energy present in an object) To visualize, this pyramid falling from the tree would be experiencing air friction only to make sound once it finally falls to the ground.
Another form of energy would be electrical energy, this form of energy occurs due to the movement of electrons. However,other forms of energy may be the final form depending on the situation. For example, a light bulb uses electricity to power itself, but that electricity does not remain in that form alone, instead it is transferred into light energy and heat to be its final form. As evidenced by the lamps in this picture
Another form of energy would be light energy. Essentially to fully understand how the process of energy transfers into light would be diving into quantum mechanics, however in its simplest form, its the process of electrons shifting into a higher orbit due to energy being passed to them and subsequently moving into a lower orbit that creates energy. This energy can also be used in the creation of energy further, such as chemical energy (to which is the energy created in a chemical reaction such as photosynthesis, which also requires light to occur
In closing, a major theme of this comic was the transference of different forms of energy into other forms. Such an event occurs due to the Law of Conservation of Energy, which thusly states that no energy can be created or destroyed, only channeled into another form
