  • Did you know that there are two types of democracy. There is direct and representative. My town is representative.
  • I have heard about that! My town is a direct demogracy, I'm from Athens.
  • Whats the difference?
  • The difference is that in direct the people vote on all subjects, but in representative the people pick someone for them to make those desicions
  • Tell me more about direct democracy.
  • This story is about the Athenians. There was a guy named Cleisthenes, he was the leader of Athens. He introduced a system called demokratia, or “rule by the people. It had three seperate institutions.
  • So this story must take place around 507 B.C. to 460 B.C.
  • You guessed it! The democracy there didn't last long but did have big effects on other countries through out history.
  • Since this story is about the Athenians, it takes place in Athens.
  • You guessed it!
  • Why did they have this?
