Storyboard Text

  • The Pardoner's Tale
  • Isn't it your time to die?
  • I haven't found anyone willing to trade lives with.
  • You are a spy for Death!
  • Tell us! Where did you leave Death?
  • I left Death by a tree over yonder.
  • Three men were sitting in a tavern when they heard the sound of a bell indicating the passing of a coffin. The three men make an agreement to find Death and kill it. (Do you see the flaw with this plan?)
  • We found the gold! Who needs to look for Death anymore?
  • The youngest must go back to town to buy us food for out trip back to town.
  • In a drunken state, the three men stumble upon an elderly man. They insult him but he continues to be polite.
  • We'll kill him as soon as he gets back. This way we can keep the gold for ourselves.
  • Good idea!
  • The younger men accuse the elderly man of being a spy for Death. The elderly man replies that he left Death under a tree. The men are quick to run after Death.
  • The three men send the youngest to buy them food and drink for their trip back to town. They make a pact to stay loyal to each other.
  • While the youngest is away, the two older men plan how to kill him. The youngest plans to poison the two older men so he can keep the gold for himself.
  • The youngest arrives and is killed by the two older men. The remaining men die of drinking from a poisoned bottle. The moral of the story is that greed is the root of evil.
