  • Welcome to my palace. Sir your wife must stand outside. There are no Chinese women allowed in this building.
  • She is my wife and I am the leader!
  • Remember our goal. I will wait out here.
  • Why are you here today Sir?
  • We must discuss the tax-farming. This is getting out of hand and is not how we traditionally do things.
  • We will not discuss this in the Chinese language. We must discuss this matter in my language only!
  • But this was our land first. 
  • You must respect me and my language, or you can leave my palace.
  • The leader of China tries to bring his wife into the palace, but the Mongol leader refuses to let her come in because she is not Mongolian. Only Mongol women are welcome inside.
  • You have not respected my people!!
  • In the late 13th century a Chinese leader and his wife are traveling to Mongolia during the summer to meet with the rulers to discuss excessive taxes.
  • We will not change the tax collecting system. This is the way things will run under my rule. You should be happy we are still letting you farm this land.
  • But they're taking too much!
  • The two leaders speak about the tax-farming, a harsh way of collecting taxes from the Chinese farmers. They only discuss this in the Mongol language.
  • We will not discuss this further. Please leave the palace with your wife.
  • The Chinese leader is very unhappy, and they are going back and forth with each other. The Mongol leader believes he is more superior, do to the fact that the Mongols conquered the Chinese land.
  • The Mongols are purposely resisting the Chinese culture and avoiding the Chinese practice. They are refusing to change the tax collecting system.
  • The Mongol leader refuses to discuss this further and insists that the Chinese leader exits the palace immediately.
