  • One night the queen had a dream that she was stomped on by an elephant. In her dream the elephant had 6 tusks and struck her in the right side. The king and queen asked the Brahmins to explain her dream. "You are carrying a child who will be a great man." Their son would have two possible paths he would take, rule the universe. But If he left his royal life he would become the Buddha.

  • According to the Buddhist tradition a royal infant looks a few years old and could walk and talk. The prince's name was Siddhartha, the prince began his life by walking and said, "I am the leader to the world and the guide to the world."

  • The prince's father wanted to keep the prince away from suffering in the world, so he raised the prince in a perfect world until he was 29 when he got married. The father was sacred that if he saw the world's suffering he would give up his royalty for spiritual path.

  • One day when prince Siddhartha went out into town he was troubled by his discovery of aging, sickness, and death.

  • Once prince Siddhartha saw the 3 ways of suffering he decided to becomes ascetic. One night the prince went into the woods he removed his royal robes, sandals, and jewels. He cut off his hair with a knife. He put on a simple robe and carried only a small bowl for alms, or gifts of food. Wishing his driver farewell, Siddhartha began his life as an ascetic.
  • One day Siddhartha,he would be neither a prince nor an ascetic. Instead, he would seek a “middle way” as a path to enlightenment. So he decided to become a Buddhist.
