  • Welcome! In today's show we will be talking about Ethnic and Religious groups.
  • An Ethnic Group is a group of people who share a common culture, tradition, foods, language, and more. Some are called Arabs, Muslims, Persians, and more. They all have different beliefs.
  • However, Ethnic and Religious groups are not the same.
  • A Religious group is a belief in the same god or gods. They have common sacred texts with a specific set of rules on how to live.
  • This includes Christianity, Judaism, Islam,and more. These also have different beliefs.
  • Most Arabs Practice Islam. Not all Arabs are Muslim, and not all Muslims are Arabs. Arabs believe to be a descendant of muhammad, who died in 632 CE, through his son Ishmael
  • Go to your local library and read about them. You will find that one of the Ethnic groups are Arabs. You will find that they live in places like the U.S. and Southwest Asia. They speak Arabic.
  • Another Ethnic group is the Persians. They speak Farsi, and live in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
  • The Persians can be Shi'a Islam. They believe to be Indo(Europeans migrated from central Europe and Southern Asia).
  • Last is the Kurds. They speak Kurdish and live in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. They can be muslim, and believe to be descendants of the Medes, who are ancient Iranian people.
