This is the Aral Sea and im a peasant farmer from kazakhstan and i use the water from the Aral Sea to irrigate my farm land.
I also use the Sea to catch fish and feed my family. We also sell some in the market. This is the perfect spot to settle down because of the reliable food supply and good farmland
Only 10 years later is all the water almost dried up. WE used up all the water to irrigate our fields and we over fished the sea and we are now moving as there is nothing here waiting for us.
We could stop the irrigating the fields as much and use other near by rivers to flow into the Aral Sea. As it slowly refills we could put more fish in the water. Just a thought.
Only 7 years later the Aral Sea is not as big as it used to be but its way more bigger. The fish industry has gone up and people are coming back. Finally the aral sea is coming back to life.
By monitering the fishing we do and sesonally adding more fish we are stable. We also plant two trees when we cut down one. Another rule is we are limited on the water we use on our fields per farmer and land
