  • Left... Left... Left, Right, Left.
  • Blacks joining the military over all increased the North's power and inspired other people of color to enlist.
  • I just don't get why them colored folks should be able to fight in this here civil war.
  • Well, a lot of blacks did fight in The War of 1812, and The Revolutionary War without anybody saying anything.
  • We saw many ex slaves join the military, and it started to become normal to have blacks in your regiment.
  • Only $7?!?!?!?!
  • Can I have the 54th Massachusetts come get their $7 pay,
  • Black soilders were promised to mkae just as much as white soilders($13). Blacks were only paid $7. They originally made $10, but had $3 taken out to pay for clothes. Blacks had to pay for clothes, whites didn't.
