  • The story is set in the past in the South. A brother and his little brother Doodle live with their family in a house by a swamp.
  • Climax
  • The Brother in the story gets a younger brother named Doodle with disabilities. These disabilities made the brother very embarrassed of Doodle which made him try to make Doodle more normal.
  • Falling Action
  • The brother in the story teaches Doodle how to walk , to get ready for school, and how to swim to try and make Doodle more normal. One day Doodle sees a Scarlet Ibis dying under neath a tree and the family does nothing about it which angers Doodle. One day while they were swimming a storm came which caused them to run in, but Doodle struggled to keep up with the brother, then he yelled to his brother "don't leave me!" but the brother kept running.
  • Resolution
  • This is my fault...
  • While the brother was sprinting inside to try and beat the rain he sees a tree coming down and he immediately starts sprinting faster. The he hears Doodle yell "brother don't leave me!" but he ignores him and keeps running to get inside.
  • After the brother gets inside the house he waits for Doodle to come back in. He waits for sometime and realizes that Doodle is taking to long so he goes outside to find him. The brother goes outside to find him and sees him laying next to a bush not moving. The he lifts up his head and sees that he is injured and is probably dead. The brother then sobs realizing that his brother is dead.
  • After the brother sees that Doodle is dead he realizes what he has done. He realizes that because of his actions that Doodle has died. His brother realizes that he should of helped his brother and should have treated him for what he really is and not try and make him normal so badly. He should have accepted Doodle for who he really is and not try and make him something he's not.
