  • The Civil War was known to be one of the bloody war. It was outbreak from 1861-1865 which was fight for the survival for the union and for the independence of Confederacy. Those causes include: slavery, the Abraham Lincoln's Election, Harriet Tubman, The Dred Scott Decision, and the Missouri Compromise.

  • Most slaves came from Africa brought by the European. They work on plantations and most slaves were in the South. During the 18th century, abolitionist movement began for slaves freedom which created issue between the South and the North. Tension rise within the two region over the issue of slavery.
  • Harriet Tubman
  • Abraham Lincoln became the president of the US in 1860. It aroused the civil war in 1861 and he was debated with Stephen A. Douglass and split the Democratic Party. He held all of the Free States and none slave states. As he was elected, South Carolina voted to sucede on Dec. 20th, 1860.
  • The Missouri Compromise
  • Dred Scott was a slave who fought for freedom through the American legal system. The Supreme Court denied his entreaty and invalidate the Missouri Compromise. Slavery was till restricted and this sparked them to vote for Abraham Lincoln.
  • Harriet Tubman, or the Moses of her people had led the slavery to freedom through the Underground Railroad. She used to be a slave, but she ran away. Using the North Star to guide her way and she was also involved in abolitionist organizations which brought many slaves to freed.
  • The Missouri Compromise of 1820 purpose was to maintain a balance of power between slave states and free states. Even the Compromise became the law, tensions between the North and the South grew because they did not intend to end slavery.
