Greasers vs. Socs
Johnny was a important character to PB because he was PB's friend, Johnny also helped PB through some tough times like when Darry hit PB.When Johnny killed Bob and helped save the children from the fire he showed PB that greasers can do good things. PB's relationship with Johnny did change after Johnny passed away and PB seemed to realize that he needs to move on from things and that he has his whole life ahead of him. Johnny challenged PB with dealing with his own problems.
PB always thought of the lot as a hangout and a place to chill, but after Dally died there he didn't have a very found feeling of being there. This setting was relatively a easy place to figure out because it was just a place to hang for Greasers. PB really had fun in the lot just being with friends with no rules or responsibility there. PB used to feel mostly safe here but after he was jumped, the rumble, and Dally dying he stayed away from the area he didn't feel safe anymore.
The Socs always got in the way of PB's daily life and just Greasers in general. Socs impacted PB to realize that he needs to look out for himself sometimes. This conflict is out of PB's control and it really made him mad at times. In the story all the Socs did was cause trouble and make things worse, but it did bring the story forward by giving entertainment to the readers and conflict to our protagonists.
