  • Mexico Welcomes Large Numbers of Anglo-American immigrants

  • Anglo-American colonization took place between 1821 and 1835. After Mexico won their independence from Spain they welcomed Anglo-American immigrants into Texas in hope of them becoming loyal. The immigrants started to form their own schools, speak English, and adapt to Texas. 
  • Battle of the Alamo
  • THEY'RE COMING!! TAKE COVER
  • In 1835 the president of Mexico appointed himself dictator. After he was dictator he realized that the "American Texans"  would use his rise to power as an excuse to seceded. He then ordered the army to disarm them whenever possible.
  • Battle of San Jacinto
  • REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!
  • The Battle of Gonzales happened on a foggy morning of October 2, 1835 at 4 am. The Texans started to formed for action.   When the fog lifted at sunrise the Texans moved into an open field and began firing on the Mexican position. In the end 6 Mexicans were killed and four were wounded.
  • Texas Statehood
  • While Texas was trying to win their independence a group of Texan soldiers occupied the Alamo. A couple months later The Mexican force began the siege of the Alamo and greatly over took the Texans by thousands. The Texans held out for 13 days straight but the Mexicans finally over powered them. 
  • On April 21, 1836, Sam Houston and 800 other Texan soldiers were led at the fort of San Jacinto and defeated over 1,500 men from The Mexican Force. As they attacked the Mexicans they shouted, "Remember The Alamo!"  This closed the success and independence of the Texans.
  • ATTACK!!
  • Gonzales received a cannon from the Mexican government and then the cannon got spiked and so that was a scare to the Indians. This was significant because only 18 men were in town at this time but they stood ready to defend their cannon. 
  • THE CANNON?!?!
