The king owns most of the land, which he will later grant to the higher class people in the society.
The king gives some of his land, also known as fief, to the nobles.
In return, the nobles pledge loyalty to the king and they also pay taxes.
The nobles can then distribute their land to friends, family, and knights. These people were known as vassals.
In return, the Knights pledge to protect the King and the Nobles.
The Nobles and Knights would have the peasants farm the land.
The peasants grow the crops and are able to feed themselves.
The peasants would have to give a share of their crops to the King, the Noble, and the Knights.
In return, the Knight provides the peasants with protection.
