  • Soviet Union believed this was an interference with international affairs with other states
  • Winston Churchill gave this famous speech and this was basically announcing the start to the cold war.
  • NATO Formed
  • April 4, 1949
  • Harry S. Truman gave this speech to ensure assistance of any kind to those nations who are under threat. This was the support  Truman had for those countries who were against communism.
  • Warsaw Pact Formed
  • May 14, 1955
  • The Marshall Plan was the plan created to economically recover Europe between 1948 and 1951. Basically restoring Europe. This plan was first announced at Harvard University by George C. Marshall.
  • Arms Race
  • The NATO which stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization was formed. In 1949 10 European nations had joined alliance with the U.S and Canada. This was a useful treaty created in order to protect those who have been attacked.
  •  The Warsaw Pact was a pact that established a mutual defense organization that had the Soviets in command of the armed forces of the member states. The treaty made sure that the member states will come in defense of any member attacked outside of it.
  • Countries were racing or competing with each other for the most power with the nuclear weapons they were all power hungry.
