Solar energy from the sun heats up the water and turns it into water vapor, this is called Evaporation
Water vapor also comes from plants, due to Transpiration. The excess water is let out through the leaves of the plants in the form of vapor
The water vapor once in the air begins to cool down and attach itself to particles in the air, forming clouds, this is called Condensation
Excess water forms Runoff
When the water in the clouds gets too heavy, gravity pulls them back down to the earth in the form of rain, snow, sleet or hail, this is called Precipitation
