  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • The people of the small village gathered for the annual lottery which is held every year. Everyone will grab a slip of paper from the paper.
  • Climax
  • The conflict of the story is when Tessie yells that it is not fair, and that her husband, Bill, was not given enough time to pick a paper.
  • Falling Action
  • Mr. Summers put the 5 slips of paper into the box including the paper Bill Hutchinson hold and called up the entire Hutchinson family.
  • Resolution
  • All the member of the Hutchinson family pick a slip of paper. Four papers are blank. Tessie pick the last paper which contain a black dot.
  • After Mrs. Hutchinson pick the paper, she see the block spot and begin to scream that it's not fair. The villagers did not listen and pick up the stones they gather earlier. They form a circle and start throwing stones to her because they wanted to end before noon dinner.
  • Tessie keep yelling that it is not fair and not right while the villagers keep on throwing stones. One stone hit her on the right side of her head.
