  • The Seljuk Turks 
  • Do you Yield?
  • Yes, I yield. 
  • The First Crusade 
  • The Second Crusade
  • What's the point? They have already won. 
  • Guys, lets get together and fight back. 
  • In 11th century, the Seljuk Turks established a new Muslim Dynasty. In 1055, the decendents of Turkish Chieftain took control and the Seljuk were eager to expand his territory so they moved westward and they took Syria and Palestine from the Fatimid dynasty. 
  • The Inquisition 
  • You are now a Christian. 
  • The Crusaders laid siege to the city of Antioch in Syria but nine months later a traitor let them through a opening in the city walls, so the Antioch fell to the Christians. The next June, the crusaders surrounded Jerusalem and scaled the city walls. and finally in 1099, the city has surrendered. 
  • The Impact of the Crusades on Christians 
  • After the victory for the Crusaders, the Seljuk Empire was already crumbling into a number of smaller states and the Muslims have trouble joining together to fight the invaders. As Muslims started to band together, they fought back more effectively and finally, in 1144, they have captured Edessa. 
  • The Impact of the Crusades on Muslims
  • Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand had used Inquisition, church court, against Jews and Muslims who were forced to be converted into Christianity. 
  •  The crusades brought many economic changes to Europe. For example, the crusades need a way to pay for supplies, which increased the use of money in Europe. Some knights began performing bank functions, such as making loans and investments. 
  • Muslims gained exposure to some new weapons and military ideas during the crusade and they also began to adopt a permanent army. The crusades also brought politicial changes as Muslims banded together to fight their common foe.
