Storyboard Text

  • Does that clear things up?
  • An example of a periodic wave would be an earthquake. The wave keeps traveling and making a pattern.
  • An example of a pulse wave would be to think about the wave being done at a basketball game. A group will stand up and then sit down and the motion will travel down the line.
  • Yeah it does!
  • Of course I do!
  • Next I can tell you the name of each part of the wave and other vocab about it. Do you want to know more about it?
  • The wavelength is the distance from either crest to crest or trough to trough. The amplitude is the maximum displacement from equilibrium.
  • Wavelength
  • Amplitude
  • Oh, so if someone heavier than Brenda was pushed into the water it would make a bigger wave?
  • Yes that's correct! Someone heavier than Brenda, such as Matt or I, would have a bigger amplitude!
  • I LOVE physics!
