During the time of Hrothgar, king of Denmark, a monster named Grendel attacked Hrothgar's castle for 11 years until Beowulf sailed from Geatland to help. That night, Grendel attacked and Beowulf torn Grendel's arm off. With that, Grendel ran back to his den to die.
That night, the people in the castle settled to sleep, happy not having to worry about Grendel anymore, while Beowulf slept somewhere else. As soon as everyone in the castle fell asleep, Grendel's mother came to revenge her son's death. She killed Hrothgar's right-hand man, grabbed Grendel's arm and ran away, roaring in anger.
The next day, Beowulf was brought to the castle, after hearing about the what happened the night before, Beowulf decided to go after her. Beowulf took a boat to go for Grendel's mother. . Grendel's mother sensed him coming, so she dragged the water, but Beowulf killed her with a magic sword that he found in Grendel's mother's den.
After Beowulf's victorious battle, Hrothgar thanked Beowulf and gave him even more treasures to take back in his country in addition to the ones the Beowulf had already received from him for killing Grendel. And with that, Beowulf boarded his boat and headed back to Geatland.
Beowulf arrived in Geatland, he was welcomed by many of the Geats, including his Uncle, Hygelac, the king of the Geats. Years later, when Hygelac died of oldage, Beowulf became king and ruled the kingdom peacefully for fifty years.
One day, a fiery dragon awoke, because someone from Geatland stole treasure from his den. Beowulf thought it was his responsibility to fight the dragon, so he went. Beowulf and the dragon fought, and when Wiglaf, a young warrior came to help, the dragon died, but Beowulf got bitten and poisoned. With his last breate named Wiglaf the new king of Geats.
