Exposition: The narrator thinks about the love of his life, Ligeia and how he first met her.
I cannot, for my soul, remember how, when, or even precisely where, I first became acquainted with the lady Ligeia.
Rising Action: Ligeia becomes ill and dies. The narrator marries Lady Rowena to try and replace the lonely feelings he had for his dead wife .
I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Rising Action: Lady Rowena also becomes ill. One night she is laying in bed drinking white wine, when mysteriously, three drops of red liquid fall from her mouth.
Climax: Three days after the narrator noticed Rowena becoming ill, she dies. The next day after her death, the narrator hears moaning coming from Lady Rowena. He notices that Ligeia is starting to come out of the corpse.
Falling Action: He then tries to make sense out of the spirit rising from the corpse, if it is his love Ligeia.
Resolution: Then one day he finally meets the spirit of Ligeia.
