Storyboard Text

  • My wife is innocent!
  • John Proctor comes rushing into the court with a look of wrath, anger on his face, with Mary Warren. John dragged Mary to the court, in attempt to clear his innocents, wife's name. She tried to explain that Abigail set Elizabeth up, so she would get arrested for witch craft. Everyone in the court was in shock and didn't believe this story. They wanted a reason for why Abigail would do this. John exclaimed to them how he had an affair with Abigail and she did it out of spite.
  • STOP IT!
  • STOP IT!
  • The court calls for Elizabeth to verify the story Mary told , since John had assured them that Elizabeth has never told a lie. Once brought into court Elizabeth is asked several questions about why she had fired Abigail. She continues to tell the court that she believed John had a crush on Abigail so she let her go. Elizabeth denies John ever having an affair with Abigail. Irony is seen here because Elizabeth is known to never lie, and she does just to protect her husband.
  • John Proctor is the devil!!
  • Furious that Mary was trying to come clean to the court about setting up Elizabeth, Abigail tries to drag the attention onto Mary. Abigail pretends that she sees a yellow bird that symbolizes Mary's spirit which is hurting the girls. They all begin to copy every word Mary says, to make the court believe that she is making them do this.
  • The girls all copy every word Mary says, to make it seem like shes using her spirits to hurt them. They begin to put on an act of being scared and controlled. Mary constantly demands them tho stop the charade they are putting on, which is making her look guilty. Judge Hathorne has a gravel which symbolizes the power he has in court.
  • Scared for her life, Mary turns the blame onto John. She tells the court that he is the devil and forced her to control the girls and practice witch craft. Mary explained that if she didn't follow his orders, he would murder her. Irony is shown here because John brought Mary to the court to clear his wife's name, but instead she ends up also accusing him to protect herself again.
  • John Proctor and Giles Corey walked into the jail house like gaits, trotting horses, after being arrested. John was arrested after being framed for forcing Mary to torture the girls. Giles was arrested for contempt of the court.
