Hop Frog and Trippetta were taken from their country and given to the King as a gift for entertainment. At the last minute they were called to perform at the King's masquerade party.
The KIng forced Hop Frog to drink wine even though it excited him almost to madness. The king then offered him another glass, but he hesitated and the king grew angry.
Trippetta implored the king to spare her friend. Instead, he threw the contents of the glass into her face, surprised at her audacity.
Hop Frog thinks of a scheme for the masquerade that the king and his 7 councillors will also be a part of and he can also seek revenge. It is the 8 chained ourang-outang act.
Hop Frog acted well until he lit the ourang-outangs, which were the king and his 7 councillors, on fire with a flambeau. The 8 burnt corpses hung from the chains and he then threw the flambeau down to the masqueraders then left.
I am simply Hop Frog, the jester-- and this is my last jest.
Hop Frog and Trippetta escaped together and returned back to their country and were never seen again. THE END
