What fools ye mortals be if you don't plan on going to the Renaissance Fair this weekend! It's conveniently located only a quick 45 miles from Columbus where you'll find yourself in an enchanted, rural bliss. As you blast back in time when you walk up to a 14th century castle.
The Taming of the Shrew
The fair is in its 27th year of celebrating a time gap in European culture between the Middle Ages and modern society. But, don't let that history lesson persuade you. With carnival rides, a petting zoo, games, real life fairies and a unicorn to meet, this festival is for all ages.
The Fair is a week-long event, from Sunday, September 1st through the following Sunday. Each day during the fair an intro to blacksmithing course is being offered. Fair goers are invited to see how a suit of armor was traditionally forged 500 years ago.
The Ren Fair will celebrate the arts of the times with a grand outdoor theater. Shakespeare's Shorts will take the stage with a devious twist. It's all done in the mud! Be warned, sit in the back seats at The Mud Show if you don't plan to be apart of the show.
When it's time to refuel at the Ren Fair prepare to get messy and grab one of the biggest roasted turkey leg ever seen. Wash it down with a challis of locally produced mead. Mead is a fermented honey-wine popularized for thousands of centuries for its property to never spoil.
Buy your tickets online in advance or at the castle gates next to the jousting bears and spend the whole afternoon laughing, learning or just relaxing with family, Renaissance style.
